What happens when you convert PNG to JPG?
Converting PNG to JPG changes a lossless image into a compressed format that is smaller and accepted by nearly every website, marketplace, email app, and device. PNG preserves every pixel and supports transparency, which makes it ideal for logos, screenshots, and graphics. JPG removes some image data to reduce file size, which makes it a better fit for photographs and images that need to load or upload quickly.

Choose the right JPG quality and background
The quality setting controls the balance between visual detail and file size. JPG compression is permanent, so keep your original PNG if you may need to edit the image later.
JPG does not support transparency. When a PNG contains transparent or semi-transparent areas, the converter must replace them with a solid background. White works for most websites and documents, but you can choose another color to match a storefront, presentation, or social post. Setting the background before conversion prevents transparent areas from unexpectedly appearing black in another app.
